Classes were shortened today due to the Living Stations prayer experience. The topic today was the Just War Theory; in small groups, students were asked to write 7 conditions which they thought would constitute a 'just' war. After discussing these, we talked about the actual teaching of the Catholic Church and its 7 principles of a 'just' war. The peace people assignment was collected, and a service hours reminder sheet was distributed to each student. Service hours need to be completed by May 18; this allows me a 2-3 week time period before the end of the school year to review them and for the students to complete any missing information. Twenty hours are due by this date; remember, they must meet the junior level requirements for service.
